There is a small courtyard with seating, which leads onto the shared parking courtyard, shared between the larger Sarum House and the cottage at the back. From the bedrooms, there are views across trees to the distant Clwydian hills.

The small seating courtyard is a good summer sun trap - so much so that vines grow up the wall next to the kitchen door, and roses and sweet peas flourish.

The small shed is used for storing the bins, the re-cycling bags and a couple of sets of ball games for children to use down in Ruthin's large park - a five minute walk away.

2A is a deceptively spacious three storey property, which was once the servants quarters to the larger Sarum House, built in the early 1800's. It has a clean modern interior, whilst still retaining many of the original features.

The kitchen is well equipped with cooking, griddling and baking equipment, and has a good selection of cookery books. There is crockery and cutlery for eight, and the kitchen door leads onto the courtyard, which makes for pleasant al fresco dining.

The open plan kitchen and dining area provides a relaxed space for cooking, eating and entertaining.

The kitchen area has a gas hob and oven, a microwave, a toaster and kettle, an electric mixer and a washing machine.

The table has six seats permanently in situ, with a further seat folded at the end of the table and a stool in the hall, providing adequate table space for 8 people, if required.

Low lighting makes for a relaxed evening environment, for lingering at the table. The art work on the walls is by Gillian Lewitt (scene painter, illustrator, calligrapher and fine artist) and by another family painter, Delphia Letcher.

The house has central seating, plus a gas fire which works independently of the main system. There are books galore, and various cds (classical, ambient and pop), cassette tapes and videos. There is a large bag of lego, and jigsaw puzzles, card and board games.

The sitting room is a relaxed and informal room, with more artwork by Gillian and also by local painter, Helen Job, and a collection of ceramic and sculptural birds and animals on the shelves. There is seating for six, with two extra chairs tucked into corners for larger groups.

There is an piano in the corner, with a selection of piano music. The window looks out onto the courtyard, and the steel herons which stand proud on the shed roof. During the summer, sunshine streams in through this window all day long.

The main bedroom on the first floor has a large double bed. Again, walls are adorned with artwork by Gillian Lewitt and local artist Ann Bridges.

For those keen on reading and writing, or with work to do whilst away, there is a desk and reading lamp in the corner, with a power supply for a lap top, and a view out of the window to the hills.

This double bedroom has a huge wardrobe, with plenty of hanging space for two, and storage in a beautiful old music cabinet with small front opening drawers.

The twin room on the middle floor, has images of Gillian's theatre work from the 1950's (she painted scenery at Sadler's Wells in London, The Old Vic in Bristol, & at Stratford on Avon), & plates of her illustration work for Italian tourist guides.

The twin room is compact, but has plenty of storage and hanging space under the art bench at the end of the room.

This art area is equipped with crayons, pastels, waxes and watercolours. These can be used, replace any materials that you may finish. There is also a nearby power supply for a laptop.

The hall ways and staircase are light and airy, and give th house a spacious feel. Again, they are lined with work by Gillian and Helen Job, and the work of a couple of internationally prominent calligraphers.

The bathroom on the middle floor, shared by the twin and double rooms, has a toilet and wash basin, and a bath with a shower unit above. The first aid kit is in the cupboard of this bathroom.

The attic room has a large beam running along the roof. The room is a spacious, double room, which has folding foam seat beds in each corner, with extra sheets, duvets and pillows in the cupboard, should it be used as a family room.

The room has its own bathroom, and with its large cupboard is plenty big enough for a couple with small children. The small, fold down beds will fit up to 10-12 years.

The velux window lets sun-light stream in when open, and there is a small window with views over the roof tops to the hills.

Once again, there is ample reading material for those who like to relax in the evenings with a book.

And the walls and shelves are adorned with artwork and collections by Gillian.

The bathroom has a toilet, wash basin and bath. There is no shower in the upstairs bathroom.

The downstairs hall is dominated by a fantastic piece of embroidery and applique by Gillian, which hangs over the front door, featuring the twelve months of the year, which was made for her daughter during the 1980's.

The main piece on the downstairs wall, is a piece of wire knitting, commissioned by an artist from an exhibition at Ruthin Craft Centre.
